The VBM has long been one of my best selling mid sized boards over the last 6/7 years, i've had a lot of fun riding them and shaping them (still do for that matter) but as a shaper/designer i'm always looking too improve and evolve designs no matter how good they are, the evolution is how we learn and the experimental nature that comes with evolution is what got me into building surfboards too be begin with.
So what happens if you take a VBM, pull the nose in a touch, widen up the tail enough for a swallow and keep a similar yet slightly altered DNA (rocker/rail/bottom shapes) too the original VBM? - well, you get a fairly mean long fish based design, we've called the VBM2.
It packs a bunch of paddle power, along with a LOT of speed and drive built into it meaning you never have too pump instead you glide round sections, and the extended rail line lets you really draw out turns.
Available as a keel twin a quad or a thruster (recommended with glass on fins), the twin has a lovely glide for high lines and swooping, OR as a quad it has a bit more drive off the bottom and goes great in the barrel. as mentioned the rocker / rail / bottom are fairly similar too the original VBM, just optimised for the fin placement and outline changes. for me the VBM2 is the perfect extension of the VBM (Vee Bottom Middy)
Recommended Dimensions: just a touch narrower and thinner than the VBM.
