"TRADITIONAL GLIDE"
I've always hated how PIG's look, it wasn't until i rode one that i fell in love and i truly understood what the term 'function before form' meant. these days i always have a PIG in my quiver of longboards, for me they tend too fare better in cleaner better shaped waves, mine tend to be quite responsive (almost a little too responsive) but very fast due to the flatness! if your looking for your first longboard, i would steer clear of the PIG and look more towards a midnight express or smooth operator, the pig is more of a challenge for once you have the longboard basics down.
FIN WISE: Obviously everyones first choice is the classic D fin, it goes great in these and looks the dogs bollocks..

however i thoroughly recommend the spoon style fins (like a d fin with the back cut out) which loosen up the tail a bunch and make a very unique ride thats a little more manuverable.
I tend too build these with thick stringers (balsa or cedar), heavier weighted blanks and big wide glass laps too keep that traditional feel just how they used too be built.
