A continued evolution of my VBM template, i wanted too utilize the VBM curves - but like usual i'm always looking at design evolution - I find the VBM is a highly functional plan shape for the majority of UK waves, yet i wanted too open up a new feeling for the template and have it perform differently in a new range of waves - thus the Tri Plane Hull (TPH) edition, seemed like the logical direction too head in, if you've followed my personal work over the last few years there's been a heavy indulgence of edge boards and tri planes, which i and many close friends have thoroughly enjoyed riding on and off over the years, i always felt like the edge stuff and tri-plane stuff didn't fit well into our general range as it was a bit too off menu for most and very complicated too build outside of a 'custom' format...
Fundamentally what we have here is a bottom shape built for speed we have a vee on the rail (or pannel/chime depending how you look at it) which lifts the rail line rocker up making it very responsive (also uber forgiving in lackluster surf), with a mix of concaves between which varies over the length of the center line rocker which is somewhat flat for some straight line speed.. the outline as mentioned above comes from the VBM genesis, just with the widepoint shifted forward (2" forward) too pull the tail a touch straighter and make for a more voluptuous nose profile, combined with a hard down rail in the tail and extending towards the mid which transforms into a subtle somewhat slightly turned up rail towards the entry point, all this makes for one hell of a pocket rocket..
The fin options the TPH are where things get even more exciting, most opt for the single fin - but my personal favourite is the single fin with some glassed on bonzer side fins - it is probably the fastest i've ever been on rail!
The TPH you wont find on our board builder, these are all handshaped and i don't even know where too start with making a CAD file for one of these, best way too get one in the order book would be too send me an email either using the contact page or direct at info@bossurfboards.com - we will also have a small stock offering here in our online store..
